Just a quick aside.

Congratulations to the three US news networks for not broadcasting the neck snapping occasion of Saddam Husseins execution.

  1. I was disappointed by this, actually. At a moment of national courage — the first execution of an enemy head-of-government since 1948 — this feminization was particularly disconcerting.

The message appears to be this: the death of Americans make fine television, but never the death of our enemies.

  2. Dan, I think they captured the execution effectively without showing the actual neck snapping and death tremors.

“the death of Americans make fine television, but never the death of our enemies.”

Sadly, I think your right. I also think the 24 hour, imbedded with the troops media coverage, while excellent from a 1st amendment/up to date knowledge sharing aspect is also an effective disaster when it comes to waging state based warfare.
